Some history on our location:
The Baltimore Pumphouse has a storied past. Originally built in 1891, this architectural gem comprised a series of brick structures, including stables, that supported a steam engine designed to pump water from Lake Montebello reservoir to homes across the city. By 1928, this function was taken over by more modern electric pumps on Hillen Road. Over the years, the building lost many of its original architectural features and served various purposes, from housing the city’s street lighting operations to featuring in scenes from the iconic TV series “The Wire.” It even briefly became a site for unauthorized tire disposal. Today, revitalized and repurposed, it stands as a proud venue for creativity and storytelling, as detailed in coverage by the Baltimore Sun."
